A range session teaches you to hit a golf ball. Nine holes with Ronnie teaches you to play golf — club choice, where to aim, when to take your medicine, and how to stop one bad hole turning into a wrecked card.

What nine holes together covers

  1. Club choice off the tee

Driver is not always the answer. Ronnie can help you compare safer targets with more aggressive choices on the holes in front of you.

  2. Aiming at the right target

Most amateurs aim at the flag. Learning to aim at the fat part of the green is one of the single biggest scoring changes there is.

  3. Getting out of trouble

What to do when you are behind a tree, in heavy rough, or short-sided. Usually the answer is duller and far cheaper than what you were about to try.

  4. Managing a round, and yourself

How to reset after a bad hole, when to take the percentage play, and how to finish a round rather than let it drift after the turn.

Why a playing lesson is different

Some golfers strike the ball well on the range but fail to turn it into a score. Club choice, targets, risk and course management are easier to improve while playing real holes.

  • You get coached on the shot in front of you, not a perfect lie
  • Bad decisions get caught as they happen, not described afterwards
  • You can discuss club choice, targets and risk on real holes
  • The emphasis stays on decisions you can use in future rounds
